The Rosary
The Rosary is the beautiful Catholic devotion for which our Shrine is named. It is a prayer given by Our Lady to St. Dominic in the thirteen century, which has borne great fruit in the Church and the world.
The Rosary can be described as “the Gospel on a string”. At Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine, we treasure the Rosary as a cord of love that binds us to Our Lady and enables her to act in and through us. This rich prayer consists of twenty decades, each of which corresponds to one of the mysteries of our salvation. We meditate on these sacred mysteries as we recite the prayers of each decade: one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, and a Glory Be.
The Rosary is prayed in the chapel before every Mass held at Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine. It is the perfect prayer to pray as a group: it allows every person to ponder divine truths interiorly, while praying vocally in communion with others. We ponder these truths because we desire to be transformed by them…May the fruits of the mysteries of the Rosary come down into our hearts!
The Divine Mercy Chaplet
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is a cry for divine clemency. Jesus taught this powerful prayer, recited on rosary beads, to St. Faustina in the 1930s. He revealed the abyss of God’s Mercy to this simple Polish nun, asking her to be the apostle of His Mercy to a world in so much need of it. In the prayers of the Chaplet, we offer God the Father the perfect sacrifice of His Beloved Son on Calvary, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. By means of the Chaplet, we may obtain miracles of grace and pardon, especially at the hour of death.
The Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross is a Catholic devotion that commemorates our Saviour’s final footsteps, beginning with His condemnation to death by Pilate and ending in His burial. There are fourteen stations that come down to us from Scripture and tradition. One can usually find these stations visually represented in a Catholic church or chapel, including the chapel at the Shrine. Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine also has beautiful outdoor stations so people can meditate on the Stations of the Cross as they walk the property. As we remember the Passion of Jesus, we gain insight into the tremendous LOVE that inspired Him to sacrifice Himself for our sake. May the Holy Spirit inspire this same love in us, that we may be empowered to sacrifice ourselves in union with Christ, for the sake of others.
Total Consecration to Mary
One of the best ways to draw closer to Jesus is to entrust ourselves entirely to His Mother. This is the meaning of total consecration to Mary. No one knows and loves Jesus more than Mary does., so we offer Our Lady our life, our heart and our whole being – without reserve – that she may purify us and create in us the image of her Son.
St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe and Pope St. John Paul II are saints who lived total consecration to Mary in an exceptional way. As we consecrate ourselves to Mary’s Immaculate Heart, we draw from their profound writings and holy example.
